Purpose

As an adult higher education professional, Dr. Brent Duncan's passion fosters professional success and creative longevity through higher education. He believes that the most valuable product of the school is the graduate. This drives his commitment to develop and administer programs through which students can integrate higher education with life compartments for individual excellence that translates to success in their jobs, careers, families, and communities. Through his consulting practice at Synthegrate® and in the classroom, he aims to help institutions and students foster Work-Life Elevation through Higher Education.

Teacher

As an educator, Brent has 25 years of experience teaching university courses and professional development workshops in management, marketing, psychology, organizational behavior, leadership, teamwork, operations, human resource management, and strategy. Brent has been awarded Faculty of the Year and Distinguished Faculty awards from the University of Phoenix for business psychology, Faculty Team of the Year for Marketing from Jack Welch Management Institute, and Outstanding Educator Award for management education from Southern New Hampshire University.

Knowledge Areas

Brent teaches marketing and strategy courses for the School of Business, industrial/organizational psychology for the College of Social Sciences, quality control and business at Northern Arizona University, marketing and entrepreneurship at Jack Welch Management Institute, and Change Leadership at Southern New Hampshire University. He also taught communications courses at Hachinohe University in Japan.

Academic administrator

As an administrator, Brent chaired the Pacific Air Force Command Education Services MBA programs. His campuses served US military personnel throughout Japan, Korea, Guam, and Okinawa. While in Japan, he served as a translator and liaison for relief and recovery missions during the 2011 Northeastern Japan Disasters. He also served as dean of faculty at the University of Phoenix School of Business, managing 8,000 local campus and online faculty worldwide. 

Education

Academically, Brent holds a Ph.D. in human development, focusing on adult development in higher education. His post-doctoral research passion integrates neurology, psychology, and education to identify practices fostering professional and creative longevity. He also holds a master's degree in human and organizational systems, a master's degree in management, and a bachelor's degree in communications/public relations.

Profession

Outside of higher education, Brent spent 25 years building and directing strategic management and marketing functions for organizations like Honeywell, Westinghouse, Cleanscape Software International, and Lockaway Management. Through his marketing agency, RealMarCom, he specialized in developing integrated marketing communications programs, web-based business generation systems, and employee development programs for high-tech, manufacturing, finance, and education companies. He also consults with universities to develop and manage student success programs. 

Personal

Dr. Duncan and his wife raised their family in Aptos, CA, spent 8 years living and working in Asia, and currently live in Phoenix, AZ. His favorite activities are motorcycle touring, playing guitar, hiking, bicycle riding, and being a 24/7 boompa.
